Bedker, 100, of Edgeley, ND, passed away Saturday morning, July 18, 2015 at Manor St. Joseph, Edgeley.

Hada Matilda Derry was born on February 28, 1915, in Kingsbury County, SD, the youngest of 13 children to Sherman T. and Matilda J. (Brown) Derry. She attended school in the area and earned her teaching certificate from Ellendale Normal College. Hada married Melvin Bedker on June 18, 1940. They lived on a farm south of Jud for three years after they married and in 1945 purchased a farm west of Edgeley, ND. They farmed there until retiring in 1974 and moving into Edgeley in 1980 where they have resided since. Melvin passed away on October 5, 2005 and Hada became a resident at Manor St. Joseph in February 2013.

Hada loved to travel and had many talents including China painting, ceramics, quilting, knitting, tatting and crocheting for many people. She won many awards with her beautiful plates that she painted. Many, if not most, of her creations she selflessly gave away to family, friends, missions and anyone in need. She loved sharing her talents by teaching others. A smile and Thank you was all she wanted in return.

She was a 4-H leader for many years and a member of the United Methodist Women, and the UMW quilt club with whom she sewed 100 quilt tops 1 year.

Hada is survived by her children, Stanley (Donna) Bedker, Mt. Vernon, IA, Eunice Thorenson, Jamestown, Gary Bedker, Sacramento, CA, David (Donna) Bedker, Edgeley, Kandas (Darryl) Edwards, Edgeley, and Melody (William) Gewecke, Hillsdale, WY; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Bedker; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one son-in-law, John Thorenson; three brothers; and nine sisters.
