CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) In June, the owner of Marketplace Foods, Keith Johanneson said the company plans to build a new liquor store, gas station and convenience store at the intersection of Main and Central Avenue in Valley City.

The city commission approved of selling a portion of the Rosebud Visitor Center parking lot to the highest bidder.

On Monday, July 13 the city accepted a $65,000 bid from Marketplace Foods. Local businessman Robert Drake dropped out of the bidding process after offering $50,000 for the property.

The city commission will still have to approve the bid proposal at the next regular meeting on July 21.
