N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Residents voted in 2014 to approve a new ordinance to shorten the hours fireworks can be ignited, sold and distributed.
According to the new ordinance, beginning at Noon on Wednesday, July 1st, residents will be able to purchase and ignite fireworks until 11 PM. The same will be for the following two days until Saturday, July 4th, when residents will be able to ignite fireworks from Noon until 1 AM Sunday. State Fire Marshal Raymond Lambert stated that residents are encouraged to contact local authorities if they have any questions.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, nearly 250 people nationwide will go to the emergency room with fireworks-related injuries in the month around the July 4th holiday. Fireworks in Jamestown after 1 AM Sunday, July 5th will be prohibited.
