CITY (VCSU) – The annual Viking Golf Scramble was held Friday, June 19, in Valley City.

Hosted by Valley City State University Century Club volunteers, the Viking Scramble is one of the largest fundraisers for VCSU athletic scholarships. A total of 23 teams and more than 100 individuals played in the 18-hole tournament at both Bjornson Park Golf Course and the Valley City Town & Country Club.

First place overall went to the team of Ben Sorenson, TJ Hanson, Shane Ost, Tim Sorenson and Matt Sorenson. They shot a staggering 16-under to win the tournament’s championship flight. Second place was 12-under by the team of Jamie Wirth, Cam Walker, Jeremy Wiebe, Tyler Marthaler and Nate Zerface. 

The teams were split into two flights following results from the first nine holes. The second flight winner was the team of Brian Yanish, Kirk Olson, Shane Kalbrener, Mark Potts and Caleb Johnson.
