CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) A Pennsylvania couple is attempting to circle the lower 48 states over a four month period traveling an estimated 10,000 miles in a 103 year old car.

The couple made a stop in Valley City on June 18 in their 1912 EMF Automobile. The driver Joe Swann and his wife Betty are traveling the back roads in America averaging 35 to 40 miles per hour.

The couple parked in front of the Barnes County Historical Society’s Museum to see Valley City’s 1901 Oldsmobile.

Joe and Betty Swann had lunch at Vicky’s Viking Room in Valley City talked with local reporters and walked back to the museum to pose for a few photos.

The couple said so for they’ve had a pleasant journey. They left Pennsylvania May 28 and are slightly ahead of their schedule.

Once they leave the flat lands of North Dakota and Montana they will be going up to Glacier National Park in Montana. They plan to be back home in Pennsylvania by the end of September.
