CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) The annual Barnes County Relay for Life was held on Friday, June 19 in Valley City.

Co-event coordinator Tammy Tibke talked about the importance the event has for survivors and families who have lost a loved one to cancer.

Cassidy Tibke has been raising funds for the American Cancer Society over the last few months leading up to the event. Tibke had her hair cut off to symbolize the sacrifice cancer patients have to endure during some cancer treatments.

This year’s goal is to raise $32,000. Last year the event in Valley City raised more than $28,000 during the Barnes County Relay for Life.

Another event sponsored by Stoudt Ross Ford and Ford Motor Company called “Drive 4 UR Community” will attempt to raise $6,000 to benefit the Barnes County Relay for Life.
Ford Motor Company will donate $20 per test drive to the local American Cancer Society chapter on Saturday.

The test drive event will be held Saturday, June 20 on the east side of Veterans Park in Valley City from 11am to 2pm.
