N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After a rain-out earlier this week, Post 25 was back in action on Wednesday for a double header with fellow Central Region team the Hatton Flyers Post 70. Carrington shuts out and sweeps Hatton 1-0 in 10 innings in the first game and 5-0 in the second game. Carrington is now 3-1 and 5-3 overall, Hatton drops to 2-3 and 5-5 overall.
In the first game, Brady Bickett would score the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning. Connor Wendel hit a grounder to the second basemen who misplayed it and the ball trickled about 15 feet away from him allowing Bickett to score the game winner from second base. The starting pitcher for Carrington, Patrick Freeman, worked eight innings allowed five hits, no runs, six strikeouts and one walk. At one point in the game, Freeman retired 14 Hatton batters in a row. Braxton Hewitt worked two innings and picked up the victory. Catcher Easton Paeper was 3-for-5 at the plate for Post 25. For Hatton, starter Jake Bilden worked nine innings, allowed six hits, no runs, 1 walk and four strikeouts. Jacob Pladson worked in relief and was the losing pitcher.
In the second game, starting pitcher Braxton Hewitt picked up his second victory of the day working five innings, no runs, six hits, three walks and five strikeouts. Jace Pederson took the loss. Shortstop Brady Smith for Carrington was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Hatton Post 70 stranded 13 base runners in the second game.
Next up for Post 25 will be Thursday in Harvey for a non-region game. Pregame will start about 5:45pm on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com, first pitch at 6pm.
