CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City Post #60 picked up their first league win in their home opener against Devil’s Lake last night. The game started out shaky, with devil’s lake converting on three errors to score 4 runs in the first two innings, but second year pitcher, Jesse Johnson was able to button down the hatch and keep the Devil’s Lake storm at bay. Johnson went 6 innings, striking out 8 and giving up no earned runs on three hits.

Offense was lead by Dalton Ondracek, who had two triples, a single and 5 RBIs to lead the team. Ben Baasch, Austen Meyer, and Jacob Miller also contributed with two hits each.

In non-league play, Post #60 lost to the Devil’s Lake Storm 9-3. The storm got off to a hot start, putting up 4 runs in the first, but Post #60 answered right back, with three of their own in the bottom half. The fame stayed the way until the 7th inning, when the storm were able to convert a bases-loaded no out situation into five runs. Post #60 was unable to answer back in the bottom half of the frame.
