(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team split with the Galchutt Gophers on Thursday.
In game one, Oakes’ Jon Tyre had a no-hitter through three innings, but only lasted another inning and two-thirds, giving up six runs on nine hits as Post 36 lost 7-5. The Gophers picked up six hits in the fifth inning, including four singles in a row.
Game two worked out better for Oakes, as Post 36 put up a five spot in the third inning to rally and defeat Galchutt 5-3. Bryce Meehl earned the win, lasting all seven innings, striking out 13. Carter Zetocha was two for three with two hits and a run scored.
Both teams are now 4-2 in the Class B Southeast Region standings.
