ND (NewsDakota.com) On the heels of a State Class B Legion Baseball Championship, Post 25 kicked off their season last night against the Senators of Bismarck. Carrington won the first game 4-3 in eight innings and dropped the second game 9-3. Carrington is 1-1 overall, the Senators are 2-2 overall.
In the first game, after a 3-run home run from Joel Thune in the top of the seventh inning put Bismarck up 3-1, Carrington would get two runs back in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at three going into the eighth inning. In the bottom of the eighth, Braxton Hewitt, Brett Lyman and Jayden Rosenau would hit three singles in a row to win the game 4-3. Hewitt would score the winning run from third base after Rosenau hit a single with nobody out, which would be his first hit of the game.
In the second game, leading 4-3 going into the top of the sixth inning, the Senators would add five more runs in the next two innings to win it 9-3.
Next up for Carrington will be today (June 10) at Tolna to take on Nelson County. AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com will have the pregame about 5:45pm, first pitch at 6pm.
