Regional Soap Box Derby Highlights

CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) More than 40 drivers competed in the Regional Soap Box Derby in Valley City vying for a spot to compete in the International Soap Box Derby next month in Akron, Ohio.

On Saturday, June 6 the event was rained out and the derby was completed on Sunday, June 7 under much better weather conditions.

Congratulations to Emily Kvien who captured 1st place in the Super Stock Division and Jaustin Opatz took 2nd place in the Super Stock. And congratulation to Aurora Ziniel on capturing 1st place in the Stock Division and also to Xavier Thomas who placed 2nd in the Stock Division on Sunday, June 7 in Valley City.

In 2013, Valley City’s Annie Hart took 3rd place in the International Soap Box Derby Super Stock competition in Akron, Ohio. It was the first time anyone in this region placed that high during the International competition.
