(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Post 36 American Legion Baseball team has started the 2015 season and Class B Southeast Region play with a 2-0 mark after defeating Lisbon Post 7 8-4 at Cummings Field on Wednesday night.

Bryce Meehl was the winning pitcher for Post 36, going all seven innings, striking out 11. Meehl was just as impressive at the plate; going three for four with a triple, two singles, three runs scored and three stolen bases.

Post 7 (0-1), playing in their first game after two years away from Legion competition did rally in the seventh inning, scoring three of their four runs. Lawrence Lessman registered the only extra-base hit off of Meehl; and scored a run. Kyle Odegaard took the loss on the mound; lasting four innings, allowing eight hits, and striking out four.

Post 7 is in action at home Thursday against LaMoure Post 19.
