CITY, ND – High School Speech Team member Mikey Meester of Valley City will be representing his school and the state of North Dakota during the national competition next month in Dallas, Texas.
Under head coach, Nick Lee and assistant coach, Misty Olds, the Valley City High School speech team showed success on multiple fronts. Throughout the year, the speech team captured four meet titles taking first at the following tournaments: Fargo Shanley, Fargo Davies, Grand Forks and Devils Lake.
Meester advanced to the semifinal round of Dramatic Interpretation and was selected to attend the national tournament in Dallas as part of an elite world schools debate team, which will be comprised of five members from around the state of North Dakota.
But in order to make the trip possible donations are needed to help Mikey Meester and his head coach Nick Lee get to Dallas for the competition.
This year’s national tournament will be held in Dallas June 15-19. An end of the year awards ceremony will be held Tuesday, May 19 at 7pm in the Cafeteria at the high school. The public is welcome to attend awards ceremony and or to make a donation.
Meester and Lee shared their excitement about getting ready for the national competition with KOVC Radio’s Steve Urness.
