N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Governor Jack Dalrymple’s statewide burn ban proclamation was officially lifted on May 8th, but some counties are continuing on with the ban.
According to Dickey County Emergency Manager Charlie Russell, Dickey County will remain in a burn ban all summer long. No burning will be allowed when the county is in high, very high, or extreme on the fire index or when there is a red flag warning for the area. Local fire officials must be contacted if you are going to burn during a low or moderate index rating.
Conditions can change throughout the day, so officials are reminding residents to pay attention and use caution when burning. Currently, a majority of the state remains in a hazardous weather outlook as continued rain and snow mix falls on the Dakotas.
