Thoughts:
We started with singles today just in case the weather turned sour so we could have the most matches complete. The weather held and we were able to complete the entire match, many rounds of JV matches, and have a picnic. Thanks to the VCTA and especially Julie, Sharon, my dad, and the Kringlies for a great barbecue!!
In singles, Clarissa withstood Anna Lawley’s barrage of winners to start the match and fought back to win the first set to take control of the match. Clarissa ends the EDC season at 6-3 at #1 singles which is truly remarkable.
Reagan, Sam, Maia, and Breanna all had to work for their victories – but did what they do all season. Rachel fought well through her singles. She fought back from down 1-2, down 2-3, to take a 5-3 lead. After losing the next game to go to 5-4 and with the wind against her, she could have buckled but didn’t. She grinded through the next game, winning the match on a winner at 30-40. Great job everyone!
Our momentum from singles rolled into the doubles where we dropped only two games in the first set of the three matches. We ended up winning the doubles for our fourth sweep of the year.
Our energy, communication, and mental game were top notch today. A day off from tennis yesterday (due to rain) was just what the doctor ordered!
Coming up is Century and Legacy in Valley on Saturday. Also, the JV will be going to Fargo that day for the JV invite!
