Ruth Elhard, 54, died Monday, May 4, 2015, surrounded by her family, at Sanford’s Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND. Her funeral will be Friday, May 8, 2015, at 10:30am at Elim Evangelical Free Church, 1141 9th St SW, Valley City, ND. Interment will be at the Congregational Cemetery, Kulm, ND, on Friday afternoon at approximately 4:00pm. Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Margaret was born December 4th, 1960, at Jamestown Hospital in Jamestown, ND, the daughter of G. Rueben & Elvera (Grose) Elhard. She grew up on the family farm by Jud, ND, & attended Jud Public School. She graduated from high school in 1979. She then went on to attend Bismarck Junior College, Bismarck, ND, and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in 1981. She worked for the ND Department of Human Services until her retirement in March 2015. She lived in Bismarck and then moved to Valley City in 2004. Margaret attended Elim Evangelical Free Church in Valley City. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was involved with all of the Children’s Ministries that Elim offered. Margaret loved being around children. She was also an avid book reader and loved flowers and gardening. Her family was everything to her, and she was the happiest when her family spent time together. She was a huge part of her nephews’ and nieces’ growing up and could be counted on to be there for them for any activity or sporting event. If you needed her, she was there, without hesitation. Margaret is survived her sisters and brothers: Marcene (Peter) Fendt, Fargo, Mark (Shar) Elhard, Jud, Brenda (Kirk) Dockter, Valley City, John Elhard, Jud, and Liz (Dan) Mehus, Valley City; as well as several nieces and nephews: Michelle and Nick Schumacher, Amy and Ryan Davis, Charles, Benjamin, Andrew, and Nathan Elhard, Chelsey and Hannah Dockter, and Sam, Max and Joey Mehus; two grand-nieces: Nora and Olivia Schumacher. She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, and an infant brother, Bruce.
