ND  (NewsDakota.com)  A grass fire started to burn ditches right by Highway 200 Monday morning about two miles west of Carrington.  The Fire Department responded just after 9am, traffic had to slow down in the area due to smoke blowing over the roadway and reducing visibility, but the Highway did not close.

“We responded mainly because it covered the highway and that is never allowed,”  Carrington Fire Chief Ken Wangen.  Three fire trucks and 18 Fire Fighters responded.

On May 4 fire index in Foster County was moderate, so burning is allowed with notification, per the Governors Declaration.  In Foster County, please call the Foster County Sheriff’s Office at 701-652-2251, or the Foster County Emergency Manager at 701-652-2252 before you burn.  Visit nd.gov/des for fire index information.
