CITY (VCSU) – Three Valley City State University softball players were named to the North Star Athletic Association All Conference team announced Sunday.
Savannah McMillin, Cejay Hilhorst and Katie Cameron all earned the honor, which is voted on by the conference’s coaches.
McMillin, a senior from Roseville, Calif., was named all conference as an outfielder. She led the Vikings in batting average (.370) and hits (60) this season. She also scored 28 runs and had 30 RBIs.
Both Hilhorst and Cameron were named to the all conference team as at-large players.
Hilhorst, a junior from Killarney, Manitoba, played third base for the Vikings and brought pop to the lineup. She led the team in home runs (6), extra-base hits (16) and slugging percentage (.563). Hilhorst batted .359, scored 35 runs and drove in 33.
Cameron, a junior from Alameda, Saskatchewan, batted .327 and scored a team-high 38 runs. She also led the team with five triples and stole 14 bases in 14 attempts.
Valley City State finished the 2015 season with a 24-22 overall record. The Vikings finished third in both the North Star Athletic Association regular season and conference tournament.
