CITY, ND – Barnes County motorists will encounter temporary delays this summer when crews resurface a total of six project locations.  Work includes Milling, Recycled Asphalt Pavement Overlay and culvert repairs.  

Specific project locations include; Barnes County 22, beginning at Eckelson and extending east approximately 6.5 miles. Barnes County 11, beginning at County road 22 and extending north approximately 1 mile through the City of Sanborn.  

Barnes County 34, beginning 1 mile west of Fingal and extending east approximately 6 miles and beginning in Fingal extending 1.8 miles north. Barnes County 11, beginning 1.5 miles south of Litchville, extending north approximately 2 miles. 

Barnes County 38, beginning at Litchville and extending east approximately 5.5 miles to ND Highway 1.  Barnes County 21 beginning 20 miles south of Valley City and extending north approximately 20 miles to I-94.  

According to Kerry Johnson, Barnes County Highway Superintendent,” Knife River Materials, Inc. will begin with culvert work and patching the week of May 4th. Milling and recycled asphalt pavement overlay will begin the end of May.  These resurfacing projects are expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.

Pilot cars will guide traffic through the project areas.  During construction and road maintenance work, Johnson urges motorists to drive with caution in work zones, and to expect the unexpected. Be patient, plan ahead and expect delays, especially during peak travel times”.
