beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Georgine Pollert, peacefully passed away and entered into the hands of God Almighty on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by her family.

Georgine Lorraine Klever Pollert was born May 17, 1935 in LaMoure, North Dakota, the third of seven children.  She was baptized August 11, 1935.  Her childhood years were spent near Grand Rapids where her father, Harry and her mother, Grace (Ubben) Klever, farmed along the James River.

Georgine received her grade school education at the public school in Grand Rapids – the small village they affectionately referred to as ‘Granny.’  The family belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in LaMoure.

She remembered selling cream and eggs, and getting mail at the store.  During the winter, there were sleigh rides to and from school, and in the springtime, walks home with her siblings along the railroad tracks until the roads were passable again.

She was a nine-year member of Sunny Valley 4-H Club.  Georgine graduated from LaMoure High School in 1953 and earned a standard teaching degree from Valley City State Teachers College in 1955, now known as Valley City State University.  She taught elementary grades in Gwinner, Litchville and Marion Public Schools, all in North Dakota.

Georgine was united in marriage to Donald Pollert on June 1, 1957.  They lived south of Litchville where they farmed and raised their four children.  She provided assistance and support as a dedicated church member, community volunteer and neighbor.  She enjoyed music, hand work and gardening.  More than anything else, she loved following her grandchildren’s activities, including sports, concerts, theatre and their hobbies.  She will be remembered as a devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, for her enthusiasm for life, her love of people, and her unconditional love.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA, Ruth Circle and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school classes.  She was a 27-year member of the local Lucky 13 Homemakers Club, and past officer of the LaMoure County and North Dakota Extension Homemakers Councils.  Each week for more than 40 years, Georgine telephoned her neighbors asking, “What is your news for the week,” for the local papers.

In 1973, Georgine was appointed to the LaMoure County Social Services Board.  In addition to being county chairwoman several times, she was chairwoman and secretary for the South Central Region and an executive committee member of the North Dakota Conference of Social Welfare.  She was a member of the South Central Human Services Regional Council and the Child Support Enforcement Unit.  She retired from the boards in 2007.  For ten years, she was a field enumerator for the North Dakota Agriculture Statistics Service, contacting farm operators requesting data.  Georgine actively returned to the workforce in 1988 as the Bank Club Director for the Senior Marketing Program of the First State Bank of LaMoure, now First State Bank of North Dakota.

Georgine deeply loved her German heritage.  She first traveled to Germany in 1993 and then again with her sisters in 2000, visiting extended relatives and witnessing the Passion Play.  A lifelong resident of LaMoure County, Georgine traveled five continents, walked the Great Wall of China, saw the Rainbow Arch at Victoria Falls, the Canadian Rockies, Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Brandenburg Gate, Cape of Good Hope, Panama Canal and Roman Coliseum.  Along with filling more than two passports, Georgine visited nearly all of the 50 United States.  A favorite destination was Washington, DC.  She collected teddy bears, magnets and teapots on her travels.

Georgine was wife to one, mother to four, mother-in-law to three, grandmother to seven, and great-grandmother to two (and one on the way).

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald; her children Pamela (Dean) Aakre of Barnesville, Minnesota, Janelle (Blake) Evert of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Kimberly (Jason) Coffel of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Daniel Pollert of Bismarck, North Dakota; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Aakre, Kelsey (Cory) Buchholz, Elizabeth and Charles Aakre, Benjamin and Jonathan Evert, and Megan Coffel; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Caylix Buchholz; and sisters and brothers, Connie Dahl of Valley City, North Dakota, Colleen Welder of Edgeley, North Dakota, Audrey (Eugene) Smith of Marion, North Dakota, Kenneth (Karen) Klever of LaMoure, North Dakota, Norma (Jim) Rystedt of Grafton, North Dakota, and Harry Klever of Fullerton, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Grace Klever.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 4:00 pm with a prayer service being at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel in Valley City, North Dakota.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Litchville, North Dakota.
