N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Red Flag warning has been issued once again for all of Central North Dakota.

According to Emergency Manager of Dickey County Charlie Russel, farmers need to do burning as part of spring farming, but because of recent warnings and the floating burn ban, it has become a federal offence to do so. According to Russel, there have been rumors that burning is still taking place regardless.

“There are rumors of night time burning and cheating going on. These violations will be prosecuted in Dickey County. Besides the $1,500 fine and possible jail time, there are costs for the fire department to put out the fire and an individual is subject to pay those costs.” he stated.

Another day of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures calls for the red flag warning for a majority of the state.
