N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection service has confirmed the presence of H5N2 Avian Influenza in a commercial turkey flock.

A presumptive positive case was first found and identified by lab diagnostics and was confirmed by the APHIS National Vet Services Labs in Ames, Iowa. The premises has been quarantined and the flock will be depopulated to prevent the spread of the disease. Domestic birds in the control zone are being monitored and tested.

Birds from the flock will not enter the food system. Due to the recent findings, poultry owners should immediately report high mortality rates and deaths to their local and state vets.
