CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two people face a number of charges following after police found a backpack reported stolen inside a motor vehicle shortly after midnight Saturday in Valley City.
Police Chief Fred Thompson says officers responded to another theft call about a half-hour later where a wallet with money, personal identification and credit cards were taken.
About this time another officer saw a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle and stop it to investigate.
20 year-old Jesse Hildebrant and 22 year-old Chanda May Grant were arrested. At one point police say Hildebrant started kicking at officers in the back seat of a police vehicle and allegedly spit into one officer’s face.
Hildebrant was also charged with assault of a police officer and preventing arrest. Both individuals were charged with theft from a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property. Grant was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
