CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) With stellar pitching and outstanding offense the Oakes Tornadoes earned a six inning 11-1 victory over the Valley City Hi-Liners on Monday night at Charlie Brown Field.

On the mound, Michael Kelly dominated through the first three innings striking out the first six batters he faced. Along with Jon Tyre two innings and one from Cole Kelly, Oakes pitched a combined no hitter.

The Kelly’s combined for seven RBI’s at the plate . Michael got the Tornadoes on the board early in the first on a line drive to right-center field that scored both Tyre and Bryce Meehl. Cole would score Michael in the opening frame then three more in the third and sixth inning.

The Hi-Liner only run came from Garret Suhr in the third inning. The Hi-Liners left fielder reached based safely after a third strike got past cather Jed Bopp and worked its way to the back stop. Suhr would take second on a wild pitch then move onto third on a misplayed grounder by Bryce Meehl from Dawson Dietrich. Shortly after that, Dalton Ondracek grounded out to short stop driving in the Hi-Liner lone run. 

The win advances Oakes to 3-2 overall this season. The Hi-Liners drop to 1-5 on the year. 

In the nights five inning game Ben Baasch was solid at the plate for Valley City going 3-for-3 at the plate. On the Mound Dawson Dietrich struck out nine helping the Hi-Liner claim a 6-1 victory in the night cap. 

The Hi-Liner return to play on Friday against Devils Lake. The Tornadoes return to play on Friday as well against Kindred.
