Zahn, 71, of LaMoure, ND, passed away April 11, 2015, at the Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN.

Sylvester Lawrence, son of Joe and Rose (Gross) Zahn was born June 7, 1943 in Dickey County. Growing up in LaMoure, he attended LaMoure High School, before serving in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. While in the Army, he was stationed in Hawaii for 21 months. After his discharge, Sylvester returned to the LaMoure area, where he began farming. He was united in marriage to Joyce Gunderson on November 15, 1969 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in LaMoure. Sylvester farmed his entire life, had a dairy herd, and together with Joyce, raised their three children on the family farm south of LaMoure. Joyce passed away March 13, 2009. Sylvester continued to live on the farm, until recently when he became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Moorhead.

Sylvester was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he was a trustee, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also on the REA Board for many years. He enjoyed watching all sports; especially the Minnesota Twins and cheering for the NDSU Bison football team. Sylvester loved to listen to the radio, with country music being his favorite.

He is survived by his children, Loren (Becky) Zahn, Livingston, MT, Lonnie (Kathy) Zahn, Bismarck ND and Lynette (Aaron) Danuser, Fargo, ND; his sister Mary Wilkes, Houston, MN; six grandchildren, Chance, Chantelle, Atlanta, Chase, Megan, and Kyler. Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, sister Veronica Zahn, and brother-in-law Wilfred Wilkes.

There will be a visitation and Rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015, with a Prayer Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, LaMoure. On Saturday, April 18, 2015, visitation will start at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
