LAKE, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Both the boys and girls High School Track team for Carrington took first place last Saturday at the Gerrells Invite held in Devils Lake.  On the girls side, the Cardinals had 165.5 pionts, the next closest team was host and runner-up Devils Lake with 82 points.  For the boys, the Cardinals scored 174 points, runner-up Grafton had 90.  

Bailey Retzlaff took first in the shot put and discus with state qualifying throws of 41-10.25 and 129.4 respectively.  Kauri Hochhalter also had state qualifying throws in the shot put and discuss with throws of 38-0.25 and 118.5 respectively.  Hochhalter placed third in shot and runner-up in discus.  On the boys side, Connor Wendel was first in the 300 meter hurdles with a state qualifying time of 41.52.  Riley Miller placed first in both the long jump and triple jump.  Miller’s jump of 21-10 in the long jump qualified him for state and his jump of 43-6.5 in the triple jump also enough to qualify for state.  

Ashley Neumiller placed first in the 1600 meter run (5:56.16), Amanda Jarrett placed first in the 3200 meter run (12:27.67), and Maara Nelson placed first in the 100 meter hurdles (16.91).  Haley Hewitt won the triple jump with 32-5. 

On the boys side, Seth Abaurrea won the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.06.  Payton Smith won the 3200 meter run with 10:51.84.   

In relays, the girls took first in the 4 x 400 and the 4 x 800.  The boys took first in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 800.  In the 4 x 400, Grafton took first and Carrington took second.

Next up for Carrington will be today (April 13) in Lisbon.
