N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After picking up their first win in the Eastern Dakota Conference last week against West Fargo Sheyenne, the Hi-Liners baseball team came up just short of their bid for two in a row to Fargo North in a 3-2 loss in the opening game then a 15-5 loss in the night cap.
The Hi-Liners garbed the early lead in the game one scoring two runs in the second inning. The Spartans tied the game up with two of their own in the fifth . It wasn’t until the bottom of the seventh that Mike Boutain drove in the winning run for North to claim the EDC point.
Despite the loss, Nate Rodriguez was outstanding on the mound allowing just three hits and striking out 12 batters.
In the night cap Fargo North won the five inning affair 15-5. Fargo North’s Tyler Anderson led the Spartans at the plate with four RBI’s on three hits.
The losses drops the Hi-Liners to 0-3 in conference play, they return home on Monday when the host Oakes High School at 5pm. That game can be heard on 1490 KOVC following the conclusion of the Twins game that day.
