CITY (VCSU) – For the first time in several years Valley City State University will be hosting summer volleyball camps for area athletes.

VCSU head coach Adam Longmore and assistant coach Steve Rindfleisch will organize and host three camps this summer for junior high and high school students.

Longmore and Rindfleisch – entering their 2nd year at VCSU – have already become involved in the Valley City community by taking over the local junior olympic volleyball program, and are looking forward to meeting and working with numerous teams and athletes at their camps this summer.

“It has been several years since VCSU has hosted any type of summer volleyball camp,” said Longmore. “We are excited to be able to provide these opportunities to not only our immediate community but to players and teams throughout the state and beyond.”

Viking volleyball will open its summer schedule by hosting a team camp for both junior varsity and varsity teams on July 16 and 17. The camp will feature individual instruction as well as team competition.

“Our team camp is going to focus on improving both individual defensive skills and team systems,” said Longmore. “There is a big need for that throughout the state.”

From July 20-23, VCSU will hold an All-Skills Camp for students entering 7th grade through 2015 graduates. Players will be divided by skill level and each athlete will receive instruction on how to perform each skill of the game.

On July 25, VCSU will hold a one-day Hitter Camp for students entering 7th grade through 2015 graduates. The camp will include instruction and feedback on various hitter skills.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to coach as many players as we can this summer,” Longmore said. “We guarantee that those who come will get extremely better in a short amount of time.”
