N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – James River Family Fitness in Jamestown has announced that a decision by the University of Jamestown will close the swimming pool area in the facility beginning July 1st.

According to Executive Director Frank Conlin, the growth of the University’s athletic teams has caused the need for more space. The pool area will then be turned into a Wrestling Room for both the men’s and women’s wrestling programs in the fall of 2015. A letter from University officials states that the current space in the Hansen Center can no longer accommodate the student-athletes.

“We know this pool closure is going to affect some of our members more than others. We also want to remind everyone of the good relationship we have had with the college/university over the years as tenants. The need for space is a must if growth is to take place for both the University and the city for Jamestown.” Conlin stated.

Conlin also pointed out that the TRAC Vote would allow them to rectify the absence of a pool if approved on June 2nd. If approved, James River Family Fitness would dissolve their name and move into the new Two Rivers Activity Center if it is approved. JRFF would also then become a part of the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department.
