Smith, 61, of Jamestown, ND, died at his home Saturday, March 4, 2015.
Kendall Christopher Smith was born 3lbs 13 oz on August 14, 1953 at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, the son of Harry and Geraldine “Bird” Smith. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1972. Kendall married LuAnn Carlsen on June 7, 1975, and they had two children, Kim and Kevin. Later he married Janet Turner on October 18, 1996. Ken worked for the City of Jamestown for 32 years and due to health issues he retired in 2006.
Ken loved his family and sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings, Duke University, and the Minnesota Twins. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ken played legion baseball in his younger days and was first baseman and pitcher. He played softball and had his own team for many years. In 1982 they won the State B Softball tournament. Ken loved cooking and making his own wine and sunflower seeds. Once he retired he watched hours of sports on TV.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Kim (Davey) Claussen and two grandchildren, Kaylea and Jaxson of Ida Grove, IA; sister, Cindy (Dave) Hinz, Jamestown; four brothers, Harrison (Connie) Smith, Jamestown, Charles (Vicky) Smith, Fargo, ND, James (Karen) Smith, Jamestown, and Jay Smith, Jamestown; nieces and nephews; aunt, Peg Pokorny; uncle, Ray Clark; aunts, Marjorie Smith, Pat & Dolly Smith, and Sheri & Ken Faulkner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Bird Smith and his son, Kevin.
Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
