Zetocha, 88, of Stirum, ND, passed away March 28, 2015, at the Oakes Community Hospital.
Jean was born to Frank and Ellen (Fallick) Terry on November 23, 1926 in Sussex County, England, where she grew up and attended private school. After her schooling, she worked as a telephone operator with her mother, and also worked with her father at the Post Office. Jean met Edward Zetocha while he was serving his country in the U.S. Army and stationed in England. Jean came to the United States in the late summer of 1948. She and Ed were married on October 26, 1948 at St. Arnold’s Catholic Church, Milnor. Jean was a stay at home mom, and together with Edward they farmed northwest of Stirum, where they raised their eight children. Edward passed away June 1, 2005. Jean continued to live on the farm until this last winter when she moved to Oakes, and enjoyed going back and forth from the farm to her place in town.
Jean was an active member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Stirum, and later became a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was a gifted musician and played the piano and organ at St. Vincent’s for many years and also at St. Charles when she became a member there. She was also a gifted painter, and she enjoyed the outdoors and all wildlife. Jean was a great booster of sports, especially the local Oakes Tornadoes and the NDSU Bison. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s activities and loved following them whenever she could. She was a member of the Women’s Legion Auxiliary of Gwinner, Lester W. Peterson Post #191 and the Transatlantic Brides & Parents Association.
She is survived by seven sons and one daughter, Roger (Joyce), Stirum, ND, Ken (Marie), West Fargo, ND, Dale (Carol), Fargo, ND, Steve (Cindy) Fargo, Bob, Lincoln, NE, Faye (Rick) Majerus, Fargo, David (Tracie), Crete, ND, and John (Ann), Oakes; two sisters-in-law, Rose (Warren) Gibson, Alexandria, MN, and Vivian (Wesley) Dunford, Fargo; a niece and nephew, Michael Fallick and Kerry Fallick in England and many more nieces and nephews in the States; a special friend, Doreen Hansen, Gwinner; twenty-four grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, a half-brother Ray Fallick, two sisters-in-law Mary Drew and Helen Mlnarik, a brother-in-law John Zetocha and a great-grandson Mathew John Olson.
Rosary will start at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Oakes. Her funeral mass will be Monday, April 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, followed by her burial at. St. Charles Catholic Cemetery.
