ND  (NewsDakota.com)  The 2015 spring track and field season started for Carrington last Saturday at the NDSU indoor track meet.  Carrington, the reigning Class B Girls State Champs, won the 23-team meet with 65 points followed by runner-up Langdon, then Rugby, Shiloh Christian and Lisbon to round out the top five.  The Carrington boys team finished in fourth place scoring 47 points.  In first place was New Town, followed by runner-up Lisbon, Grafton and in fifth place was Watford City.  Here are the placers for Carrington from Saturday: champions highlighted.

GIRLS:

1600 meter run:  Amanda Jarrett, 5:35.06, third place

3200 meter run: Ashley Neumiller, 12:26.29, fifth place

60 meter hurdles: Maara Nelson, 9.92, runner-up

4 x 200 meter relay: Carrington 1:54.19, first place – Abigail Jarrett, Maara Nelson, Haley Hewitt and Gracie Page

4 x 400 meter relay: Carrington 4:29.46, runner-up

Triple jump: Haley Hewitt, 33-2.5, third place

High jump: Gracie Page, 4-9, third place;  Carmen Pederson, 4-3, tied for eighth

Pole Vault: Ann Endres &  Emerson Hoornaert, tied for eighth place 6-0

Shot put: Bailey Retzlaff, 42-9, first place;  Kauri Hochhalter, 37-2, third place

BOYS:

60 meter dash: Cole Ferguson, 7.29, first place;  Walker Carr, 7.50, fifth place

800 meter run: Jacob Fandrich, 2:14.01, fifth;  Trey Rosenau, 2:20.70, eighth

3200 meter run:  Payton Smith, 10:32.57, fourth

60 meter hurdles: Connor Wendel, 8.71, runner-up

4 x 200 meter relay: Carrington 1:37.31, first place – Cole Ferguson, Jacob Fandrich, Walker Carr and Connor Wendel

Pole vault: Kaden Wolsky, 9-6, sixth place

Shot put: Jacob Copenhaver, 39-10, seventh place

Next up for the girls track team will be Tuesday, April 7th in Valley City, the boys will be in Valley City on the ninth.
