(NewsDakota.com) Voters in the Oakes School District will go to the polls in early June to cast ballots for two open seats on the district’s board.
Two representatives will be chosen to serve three year terms. The first seat is from the rural area east of North Dakota Highway 1, and the other is from the city of Oakes.
Sonia Meehl currently holds the rural seat, and has filed paperwork to run for re-election. Brenda Tyre holds the city seat, and as of Wednesday, has not submitted paperwork required for a run at re-election.
The deadline for those wanting to run for the seats is March 30 at 4 p.m. Filing papers can be picked up at the district office. The election is set for Tuesday, June 2 with polls open from 9-7 at the Oakes Elementary School.
