N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – At around 5:35 PM Thursday evening, the North Dakota Highway Patrol became involved in a pursuit that had been initiated by the Minnesota State Patrol in Minnesota.
A stolen 2005 Ford F650 Box Truck was westbound on I-94 into North Dakota. It had been reported stolen in the Fargo area and pursuit continued onto northbound I-29. Pursuit continued through Fargo until an NDHP trooper successfully utilized spike strips to disable three tires on the stolen vehicle. The suspect continued to flee at reduced speed.
At around 6:00 PM, the vehicle came to a stop and the suspect, 44 year-old Michael Douglas Spivey, began to flee on foot. Two troopers took the suspect into custody without incident. He was charged in North Dakota with Driving Under the Influence-B Misdemeanor, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle-C Felony, Reckless Endangerment-C Felony and Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle-C Felony.
Pursuit speeds ranged from 20 to 70 miles per hour.
