Jerome Michael Hafner was born Nov. 30, 1956 at Valley City, ND, the son of Frank and Esther (Sondag) Hafner. He grew up in Valley City and attended school there. He later was a client at the Open Door Center in Valley City before moving to Fargo in 1996. At Fargo he was involved with the Education Training Center program. In 2012 he became a resident at Elim Nursing Home.
In his younger years Jerome loved to ride his bike around Valley City–especially those trips to the DQ. He spent lots of time going through newspapers–front to back–and would sometimes pretend to be a newscaster. Another hobby was playing his drums. He also had 3 special friends: Lori at ETC and Bob and Kenny at Fraser Ltd.
Jerome is survived by a brother, Francis (Joyce) Hafner, Valley City, ND; 3 sisters, Pat (Bill) Thomas, Moorhead, MN, Rita Hafner, Cicero, IN, and Madonna (Lynn) Hildebrant, Conde, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
