N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Officials with CHS Inc. are still planning construction this summer on the $3 billion nitrogen fertilizer plant at Spiritwood, North Dakota.

Work this summer will still commence, pending the establishment of a water supply and a final design plan and schedule. Bringing water from the Missouri River near Bismarck has been discussed by using pipes to pass the water into the plant. In addition to using a large amount of natural gas and electricity, the plant will reportedly use roughly 4,000 to 5,000 gallons of water per minute.

Nearly 1,800 workers are anticipated to be in the area over the three-year construction process. Crew camps will be used on land provided by the Jamestown Stutsman Development Corporation.
