CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Cris Linnares, an advocate for women and girls, will speak about women’s empowerment and International Women’s Day on the Valley City State University campus tonight at 7pm.

Cris Linnares, international author and renowned Brazilian psychotherapist, is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment. Creator of the wellness program Diva Dance and founder of Women’s Impact, her pioneering work and life story has been featured in Shape, Marie Claire and Women’s Health magazines, covered by FOX and ABC, and shared at two TEDxTalks.

After marrying and moving from Brazil to Fargo, Cris ended up facing major culture shock, depression and the hardships that come from the lack of connections. After discovering natural ways to heal and reinvent herself, she founded Women’s Impact in 2011 to create opportunities for women to connect and empower each other.

Women’s Impact offers a supportive online community, magazines and monthly events where women from many walks of life can experience the power of connection to provoke change in their own lives, families, businesses and communities.

Sponsored by VCSU’s Diversity Services and the VCSU Student Senate, the presentation will be held in Froemke Auditorium, Foss Music Hall, at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public free of charge.
