CITY (VCSU) – Valley City State University volleyball coach Adam Longmore announced today that West Fargo native Tabitha Miller has signed a letter of intent to attend VCSU and play for the Vikings starting this fall.

Miller, a 5-foot-7 libero, led West Fargo High School’s volleyball team last season with 318 digs. She also had 118 kills and 23 service aces for the Packers.

“We are so excited for the chance to coach Tabby,” Longmore said. “She has a great work ethic and a great attitude. Those are essential ingredients in the players we coach. Once she understands what we expect out of our back-row players she is going to become a great asset to our program.”

Miller was a two-year letter winner for the Packers, and was voted hardest worker in volleyball. Off the volleyball court, she lettered and 2nd barred in band, and is captain of Envirothon.

Miller plans to study wildlife management while at VCSU. She is the daughter of Joe and Wanda Miller.

Miller joins a large recruiting class for Longmore, who is entering his second season as head coach and played with a small roster last season. Also committed to VCSU are Emily Weatherstone (Middle, 6-1, Sisseton, S.D.), Taylor Balkan (Setter, 5-7, Sequim, Ore.), Clarissa Olson (Hitter, 5-9, Valley City), Autumn Johnson (Hitter, 6-2, Hazen, N.D.), and Tyler Bulawa (Hitter, 6-0, Bismarck, N.D.).

“As we continue to sign these recruits the picture of what we can become gets that much clearer,” Longmore said. “We are going to have a lot of new faces and we are going to have a lot to teach. But Tabby, and everyone we have coming in, are willing to do what it takes to help take this program where it needs to go.”

Valley City State University finished last season 15-18 in Longmore’s first year as head coach, tying the program’s most wins in a season since 2006. The Vikings compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and play their conference games in the North Star Athletic Association.
