H. LaQua, 90, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday night, March 5, 2015 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Virginia was born on June 12, 1924, in Goodwater, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Robert and Clara (Badger) Hunt. The family moved to Edmunds, ND in 1931 and lived there for 6 years, then moved to Spokane, WA in 1937. Virginia graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane in 1946 and then moved back to North Dakota that year to teach in Kensal. She married Paul J. LaQua in Kensal on September 2, 1948 and they moved to Jamestown soon after. Virginia attended Valley City State College in 1965 where she received her teaching degree. She taught at Wimbledon school for two years, and then taught for the Jamestown Public School system until 1977. Virginia opened the LaQua Tax firm in Jamestown until she retired in 2006 at the age of 86.
Virginia was a current member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the General Society of the Mayflower Descendants.
Virginia is survived by her seven children, Mary Beth LaQua, Chicago, IL, Becky LaQua Dunn, Bismarck, ND, Phillip J. LaQua, Jamestown, Fred (Sue) LaQua, Sioux Falls, SD, Joe LaQua, Jamestown, Rick (Deb Carlson) LaQua, Jamestown, and Donna (Tim) LaQua Welch, North Richard Hills, TX; ten grandchildren, Missy, Shaw, Cole, Josh, Jamie, Jeremy, Amy, Ashley, Sasha, and Ryan; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. LaQua, on January 20, 2000; sister, Florence (Hunt) Kollman; brother, Robert Hunt; and her parents, Robert and Clara (Badger) LaQua; and one step-sister, Ruth Burke.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kensal, ND, with Father John Ejike officiating.
Vigil: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Kensal, ND.
