CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City State women’s basketball is headed back to their fourth conference championship game appearance in five seasons. The Vikings won an 80-62 decision over Mayville State in Saturday’s NSAA semifinal. They will play the University of Jamestown Jimmies on Tuesday night at 5:30pm.
The winner of Tuesday’s contest will get an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. The Jimmies will earn an at-large even if they lose, but the Vikings will need to win to get back to Sioux City. VCSU had a streak of three-straight national tournament appearances snapped last year.
Mayville State shot just 27 percent from the field in the contest and were 2-28 from beyond the arch. The Comets trailed most of the game by double-digits, but worked it to nine with a few minutes remaining. But as the Vikings had done all game they hit another big shot. Georgia Williams finished with 22 and Courtney Dixon added 21.
