N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After hosting a pair of North Star Athletic Association quarterfinals on Wednesday night, the Jamestown Civic Center will be home to a Region 3 girl’s basketball championship and the District 5 boy’s basketball tournament before the Jimmies return on Tuesday to play in the NSAA title games.

The University of Jamestown teams will get a semifinal bye and will host the title games on Tuesday after a pair of dominating wins. The No. 11 Jimmie women raced out to a big lead and coasted to an 88-66 win over Presentation College. Then the Jimmie men moved closer to a return trip to Branson with a 94-65 beat down of Valley City State.

Jessica Buck paced the Jimmies again with 16 points, but the bench was a big factor in the Jimmies victory. Depth is a luxury that Presentation does not have and the Jimmies were able to wear down the Saints. Kaeli Kraska came off the bench to score 13 and Talyor Hammer added nine.

Jamestown raced out to a 32-point lead early in the second half and called off the dogs to coast to a 22-point victory. The Jimmies will await the winner of VCSU-Mayville St. in Tuesday’s championship tilt. The Comets and Vikings will play Saturday at The Bubble.

Jamestown hasn’t lost a non-forfeit game against their rivals since 2012, when AJ McDonald’s 23-footer at the horn shocked a Jimmie team ranked in the Top-10. The streak continued on Wednesday in a rout. Jamestown has wins of 34, 26 and now 29 over the Vikings in 2015.

Five Jimmies in double-figures lead by Brequan Tucker’s 17, who passed 600 points in a season. Tucker is at 606 for the 2014-15 season which is good enough for fourth all-time in Jimmie history, he is 11 points behind 3rd all time.

Jamestown will host the NSAA title for a second consecutive year. They beat Dakota State 72-67 in 2014. The two other NSAA quarterfinals are scheduled for tonight.

Tuesday night the double-header will start at 5:30pm with the women’s title and that will be followed by the men’s game. Both games can be heard on ESPN Jamestown and NewsDakota.com.
