N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – He’s a slam-dunk to be the North Star player-of-the-year when the awards are announced next week, but Brequan Tucker picked up another NSAA player-of-the-week award. Tucker scored 50 points in two University of Jamestown wins last week and helped his team seal up the No. 1-seed in the conference tournament.

Tucker is ninth in the NAIA in scoring with 21.88 points per game. His 591 points so far this season ranks 11th in the NAIA and fourth in the history of Jamestown basketball.

The Jimmies will open up the NSAA tournament on Wednesday night at the Jamestown Civic Center in a game against sixth-seeded Valley City State at 7:30pm. If Jamestown wins they would get a bye in the semifinal round before hosting the championship on Tuesday, March 3rd.

Jamestown has played in three straight conference championship games dating back to the 2012 A.I.I. title game. All three have been against Dakota State, with the Jimmies holding a 1-2 record.
