(NewsDakota.com) The Jamestown High School boys hockey season saw their dream of competing in a State Tournament in 2015 fall just one game short, with an 8-4 loss to Minot on Saturday on the final day of the WDA Tournament.

Minot scored the first two goals of the game less than a minute apart in the first period, before Jamestown put a score on the board in the final minute from Nick Schaack.

In the second 17 minutes of regulation, the Magicians exploded for four goals while the Jays managed just one; from Jared Schultz.

In the third, Jamestown outshot Minot for the first time all game, and needed to more tallies from Schultz and Nick Stockert, but Minot’s Brey Effertz managed to shut down the door the rest of the way to send Minot to state.

Minot had 43 shots on Brian Wenzel, who made 37 saves, while Effertz faced 28 shots from Jamestown and registered 24 saves. Matt Flom netted a hat trick in the victory.

Jamestown’s season ends at 10-12.
