CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State’s Courtney Dixon has been selected as one of 27 student-athletes nationwide to serve on the new NAIA Association of Student-Athletes.
Dixon is a sophomore on the Women’s basketball team is the president of the VCSU Vikings Athletic Council.
Her duties in the position will be to represent the NAIA and the sport of Division II Women’s Basketball for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ first group of student athletes. The group of students will serve as the voice of the competitors at the college level. The ASA will include at least one representative from every conference and every NAIA championship sport.
“I am honored to have been selected to represent VCSU and the North Star Athletic Association at a national level,” said Dixon. “It is a great opportunity and I can’t wait for this experience to begin.”
Currently Dixon is studying elementary education at VCSU. The past three semesters she has been named to the President’s List which requires a 4.0 GPA. Dixon is the daughter of Jeff and Kristi Dixon.
On the Basketball court, the Casselton native has helped the Vikings to a 19-8 overall record. She averages nearly 10 points a game and five rebounds. When not shooting hoops, Dixon participates students as a New Student Orientation Leader. She also represents the VCSU student body as a member of VCSU Student Senate and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
