(NewsDakota.com) The number one and two seeds during the regular season in Class B District 5 will meet for the District’s Championship game on Monday, while four other teams will compete for two addition spots to the Class B Region III Tournament.

#3 Barnes County North 51 #7 Midkota-Kensal 48 Overtime

In the first of Saturday’s three contests, the seventh seeded Mustangs gave the Bison all they could handle, despite losing three players to foul trouble, and another one to injury, all in the fourth quarter. BCN (11-10) trailed for most of the game, until just under six minutes remaining in the third quarter. 

Kayla Scott lead the way for the Bison with 16 points. The Mustangs saw their season come to an end with a record of 4-17, and had a team high 13 points from Brooke Ronningen.

#1 Carrington 48 #4 Edgeley-Kulm-Montpeiler 29

The top seeded Cardinals established an early 8-0 lead against the Rebels and took at 12-4 lead after the first eight minutes. EKM (11-10) started the second quarter on a 7-0 run to pull within a point, but would not get any closer. 

Carrington (18-2) had 15 points from Brooke Rosenau and another 14 from Maara Nelson. The Cardinals had just eight turnovers in the contest, as opposed to the 25 of the Rebels. EKM had 14 points from Katie Entzi.

#2 LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 50 #6 Ellendale 25

The second seeded Loboes won their 17th game of season in a wire-to-wire affair against the Cardinals, with the largest lead of the game coming at the final horn. 

Anna Holen had 18 points for LLM (17-4) while Jacey Alber netted another 12 points. Ellendale’s (4-17) leading scorer was Kaityln Schimke with 12 points.

Monday’s action starts at 4:30 with #5 Oakes (4-16) battling Ellendale, followed by a 6 p.m. contest with BCN and EKM; both games being Region III qualifying matches.

The 2015 North Dakota Class B District 5 Girls Basketball Championship is set for 7:30 Monday night as Carrington and LaMoure-LM take the court.
