ROCKFORD, ND. (NewsDakota.com) The first day of the 2015 District 7 girls basketball tourney went according to seed on Friday night at the New Rockford/Sheyenne Gym. With seven teams in the tourney, No. 3 in the state and the overall number one seed in the district Lakota/Edmore, received a first round bye and will play Saturday about 5:30pm against Four Winds/Minnewaukan. Three of the four teams in Saturday’s semifinals have a 14-6 record, Lakota/Edmore is the only team with a 17-2 record. Below are the first round results:
Four Winds/Minnewaukan 80 Warwick 54
Benson County 50 New Rockford/Sheyenne 27
The number two seeded Wildcats defeat the Rockets to earn a spot in the semi’s on Saturday. Leading the way for BC was Freshman Danielle Schwanke with 12 points. Elizabeth Holzworth had 11 to lead the Rockets.
Harvey/Wells County 53 Dakota Prairie 28
The number three seeded Hornets beat the number six seeded Knights of Dakota Prairie to advance to the semifinal round against the Wildcats.
Saturdays schedule:
4pm – New Rockford/Sheyenne vs. Dakota Prairie (loser out)
530pm – Lakota/Edmore vs. Four Winds/Minnewaukan (semi’s)
7pm – Benson County vs. Harvey/Wells County (semi’s)
