(NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jay boys hockey team won their final home game Tuesday night over Mandan 3-1, and in doing so, clinched the number four seed for the West Region Tournament next week in Bismarck.
Jamestown received a first period goal from Nick Stockert, his 16th, and a second period tally from Austin Rene, his 12th, to build a 2-0 lead after two.
The Braves struck for a goal with about seven and a half minutes remaining to slice it to 2-1, but Jacob Miller blasted home his 2nd goal of the season about a minute later to give Jamestown the momentum back.
“This was a total 100% team effort” said head coach Matt Stockert.
The Jays out shot Mandan 30-27, with goalie Brian Wenzel making 26 saves.
Ironically, these two team will play each other in the opening round in the WDA Tourney at 1:30 pm on February 19th.

The Blue Jay girls hockey team lost Tuesday night at Mandan 6-3. Torri Kamlitz scored her team leading 10th and 11th goals of the season for Jamestown.
