York, 96, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Elim Care Center, Fargo.
Margaret Conley was born on January 3, 1919, at Urbana, ND, the daughter of Earl and Winifred (Graham) Conley. She was educated at Urbana and graduated from Hannaford High School. Margaret attained her teaching certificate from Valley City State University and taught English, art, and humanities. She taught at Sibley, MT, then Gackle, ND, and Glasgow, MT for 4 years from 1946 until 1949. Later, Margaret taught at Durango, CO, then one year at Sanborn, ND, one year at Moorhead Junior High, and Bottineau, ND School of Forestry. In her later years, she taught at Crookston, Warroad, Mayville State and Valley City State Teachers’ College before her retirement. Margaret wrote a book about the history of Barnes County. She moved back to Urbana after retirement, then to Jamestown before moving to Fargo where she lived with her son, James until his death. She resided at Elim Care Center most recently.
Margaret is survived by her nieces and nephews, Cole Conley and Al Conley, Darby McKinney and Martin McKinney; and grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James York; brothers, Clayton, Wayne, and Wes Conley; and sister, Merle McKinney.
Memorial Service: To be held at a later date.
Visitation: None scheduled. Arrangements are in the care of Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Interment: Spiritwood Cemetery, Spiritwood, ND, later in the spring.
