N.D. (AP) — A manufacturing company in the southeastern North Dakota town of Wishek is closing after nearly half a century of business.
Wishek Steel and Manufacturing was founded in 1969 and in 1972 moved into a new facility that has been expanded several times through the years. The plant is scheduled to close at the end of April, putting 36 people in the town of 900 out of work.
CEO Mitch Bosch states that demand for the company’s agricultural products has diminished, and what work remains is being moved to parent company Wil-Rich LLC in Wahpeton.
Wishek Steel and the local Job Development Authority are trying to find a buyer for the 30,000-square-foot plant to keep it open.
