Blue Jay girls picked up their first Conference victory Saturday night with a 66-62 upset win over Turtle Mountain at Jerry Meyer Arena. The Braves earned a split by winning the boys game 74-61.

Jamestown never trailed in the game, but saw Belcourt tie the game 55-55 with 4:00 to go. Clutch free throws down the stretch by Mehgan Orr, Taylor Schmeichel, and Bailey Lamp sealed the deal. Orr led the way with 13, Emily Reiten scored 10 and Allie Smith hit for 10. The Blue Jay bench was awesome out scoring Turtle Mountains bench 29-9. “We shot the ball well” said head coach Andy Skunberg. The Jays improve to 2-14 over-all and 1-10 in the WDA.

Braves 74 Blue Jays 61

Despite a monster game from Noah Wanzek, the Jays came up short. The talented Junior hit for 31 points, including 20 in the first half. Jamestown was only down by one at halftime, 42-41, but Belcourt slowly pulled away in the second half. The Jays fall to 6-10 over-all and 4-7 in the conference.

The Blue Jays hit the road next weekend with games at Williston and Dickinson
